Currently....November : )

Hi everyone, Happy Friday = ) This was THE longest short week.... I made it through the storm without any serious mishaps but school was closed for two days. Unfortunately, a few people I know were hit hard in parts of New Jersey and New York. My heart goes out to everyone who has experienced difficulty during this time.

On a happier note, today one of our 6th grade teacher hosted our first student council debate! It was nicely done :) It felt good and very inspiring to hear our young students stand tall and speak about qualities such as integrity, honesty, determintation, trustworthy, respectful, hard working, and dedicated. We aligned our school elections with the Presidential Election; our students will be voting on Monday (because we are closed on Tuesday). We started the proces the first week in October. We had our students register to vote (and we had a deadline) and we also sent home information for them to talk to their parents about. I've always believed that if you want action in the community start with the kids. By getting the students excited about our school elections, it got them talking more about the election process at home. We had our students campaign and write speeches. They also had to get endorsements from the principal, classroom teacher, and at least one other adult in the building. Today during the debate, they had one more chance to share the qualities that make them qualified for the position they are running for. They also answered a few key questions that focused on how they could make a school-wide difference.

I have a lot of work to do this week and a few (very ambitious blogging goals : ). So I decided to participate in my first Currently Linky Party to lighten things up a bit tonight. So here it goeas...

  1. Now that you mention it, I don't think that they make Pudding Pops anymore. What a shame... Although I think that you might be the only person that liked banana :)

  2. First of all, I love your blog title and background! It is awesome! Second, I'm glad you joined in the currently! It is great that your school did a mock election. I wish that we got the chance to do it in my grade, but we didn't this year. And I agree, I would love a personal secretary. That would make life a lot easier.

  3. Everyone needs a personal secretary! It should be part of a teacher's contract to be provided with one!
